‘Far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God. Henceforth let no man trouble me; for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus’.
These words from our New Testament reading are from the very last chapter of St Paul’s Letter to the Galatians, and they fit well with the image of the crucifix from our chapel which you can see below. From these words it has been thought that St Paul indeed bore the marks of the wounds of Christ. He himself was a remarkable ‘new creation’ after his conversion, and we can trust his words. May they bring you ‘peace and mercy’, and may your Sunday be richly blessed with all the gifts of God.
