The Annunciation of the Lord, Monday 25 March 2019

 Dear Friends,

It is a joy to welcome you to our new website!

Our last website served us well but technology has moved on and the time has come for us to embrace a new look. The new website should make it more possible to add or change content – in the hope that we can keep you more up to date with events and news of the sisters.  The familiar daily postings remain – you will find our Daily Reflections and the Rule of St Benedict under the Daily Updates tab on the Home page.

As those of you familiar with our community story will already know, we had quite a spiritual journey into the Catholic Church but the Lord brought us through all the twists and turns to a safe harbour.

Since August 2013 we have been deepening our roots in the Catholic soil of Blessed John Henry Newman’s ‘Maryvale’ – quite literally, since our monastery, physically within the parish of Maryvale, is a couple of minutes’ walk further up the hill, from Maryvale Institute, Newman’s former home.

The daily parish Mass (on Sundays there is an additional Mass in the Parish Church) is held in our monastery chapel, so we have been blessed by our daily contact with the local parish as well as with Maryvale students and other Religious in the area, who regularly join us for Mass. Every day, immediately before the start of Mass, the sisters gather in our monastery chapel for fifteen minutes silent corporate prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, to pray for prayer requests and intentions that have come to us – including those you send to us through this website. We give prayerful thanks too in this time of prayer for our ‘benefactors’ – all of you who support us with your prayer and donations. We regularly offer Mass for the intentions of all our benefactors.

The Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary continue their spiritual journey and we hope that you will continue to journey with us through use of this website as we all journey on towards our heavenly homeland.

May God bless you and all those you love.

United in prayer,

Mother Winsome
