The stole which decorates the crucifix in our chapel this Eastertide follows a Polish custom. It is linked with the image of Divine Mercy, venerated this coming Sunday. In the Divine Mercy image, red and white rays radiate out from the Heart of our Lord, symbolising blood and water. Here the emphasis is on Divine Mercy expressed for us in the cross and resurrection of the Lord, seen in the word ‘Alleluja’ (spelt the Polish way) superimposed on the tide of love coming from the crucifix. ‘Sorrow and love flow mingled down’ – and Christ is risen!
May God bless you this Eastertide, and keep you in His mercy.
