Jesus said, ‘If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him’.

In this quotation from today’s Gospel reading, it is worth noticing that the word for ‘love’ in the original Greek text is ‘agape’. This word in turn was used in the Septuagint version of the Old Testament to translate the Hebrew word for ‘love’, as found in the Song of Songs, into Greek.

The Hebrew word is used to describe both human love and the love of God for His chosen people. Both these senses are present in today’s quotation. May His love dwell in us, and flow out towards others in all our dealings. May God bless you this day.
