We are continuing with the Last Discourses of the Lord, in St John’s Gospel. Here is an extract from today’s: ‘Because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts. Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Counsellor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you’. As we approach the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, and following that, the Solemnity of Pentecost, our hearts and minds are in the Upper Room where the Discourses took place and where the little community of disciples gathered with our Lady to pray and keep Vigil before Pentecost.
May we truly open ourselves to the profound meaning of these days of grace, and may God bless you in your own following of Him.
