On this day of World Communications, the mind goes immediately to Christ the Word of God, the Second Person of the Trinity. St John of the Cross said, ‘The Father spoke one Word, which was His Son, and this Word He always speaks in eternal silence, and in silence must It be heard by the soul’. Sometimes the scattered words we speak can be like feathers escaping from a pillow which, however hard we try, we cannot push back … all of us will have spoken words we regret; words of anger, words that wrongly disturb, words that do not come from our deepest silence. Perhaps today we can enter a place of stillness, and there allow the true words of our soul to come forth – words of love, words perhaps of pain, but which God understands, words of trust in the purposes of God for our lives.

May God bless you and may you hear the deep word of Love which He speaks for you in your own heart this day.
