Today the Gospel reading is the call of Matthew, the tax collector, who became a disciple of our Lord and whose Gospel is one of the greatest gifts we have. In the account of his call, Jesus says to the Pharisees, ‘Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, “I desire mercy, and not sacrifice”. For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners’.
The Lord’s mercy is ever near us, to restore us to Himself and to bring us peace in our journey. May you know His mercy, and His peace, and may God bless you this day.
