Today’s saint is sometimes regarded as the ‘second founder’ of the Franciscan Order. He was born in the thirteenth century, about five years before St Francis died, so he never knew him. During Bonaventure’s time as the General Minister, he brought peace and good order to the Franciscans, and through his intellectual ability, established the Friars on solid doctrinal foundations based on the Gospel and the unique vision of St Francis.

May he pray for us in all the challenges of our own day, and may God bless you.
