Here are some words from our New Testament reading today: ‘If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory’.

What does it mean that our life is hidden with Christ in God? This life that St Paul describes is our ‘real’ life, the inmost core of our being, our soul. This life is ‘hidden’ in baptism, when we are fully engrafted on to the true Vine, Christ. It is not hidden out of shame, or discouragement, but so that it can grow, as the seed planted in the earth grows in silent darkness.

May God bless and bring to fruition the life He has planted in each one of us, and may your Sunday be rich in joy.
