‘Jesus said to him [the rich young ruler], “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”’

This passage from today’s Gospel lies at the heart of many a vocation to consecrated life, from St Antony the Great onwards.

But each of us is called to make a radical decision for Christ, whatever our walk in life, if we would be ‘perfect’ – that is, complete, whole, fully the person God intended us to be.

May God grant us the grace to make this choice, every day of our lives, and may He bless us all.
