In the Archdiocese of Birmingham, today is also kept as the Feast of St John Wall, Priest and Reformation Martyr. He was born in Lancashire, and trained for the priesthood at Douai. After joining the Franciscans, he was sent on the English Mission and served the Worcester Mission until his martyrdom in 1679. He is listed among the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales, and was canonised in 1970.

May he pray for us, and may God bless you this day.
