This Passionist Priest is known for his evangelisation of the Midlands, and specially for his reception into the Church of soon-to-be-canonised Blessed John Henry Newman.
Newman wrote in October 1845 to a friend: ‘Father Dominic the Passionist is passing this way on his way from Aston in Staffordshire to Belgium. He is to come to Littlemore for the night as a guest of one of us whom he has admitted at Aston. He does not know of my intentions, but I shall ask of him admission into the one true fold of the Redeemer’.
And it happened exactly so, on a wet evening that same month. Our prayer is that it will not be long before Blessed Dominic himself is canonised!
May he pray for us, and may God bless you this day.
