From today’s Gospel reading: ‘Be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect’. These are Advent words, but they also apply to us at all times. Whether it is the coming of the Lord at the end of time, or our own death, we should do everything in our power to be ready.
In monastic life, it is traditional before going to sleep to examine our conscience and then to commend our soul to God, in preparation for the day and the time when Christ will come to us to take us to Himself. It’s good practice for everyone!
May God bless you and give you His grace, to keep you ready for His call.
