This little blackbird, pictured below, was taking the last opportunity for a meal at dusk the other evening …

In our New Testament reading today, from Romans, there are these words: ‘Hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience’. Elsewhere, St Paul writes of hope as the anchor of the soul: ‘We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner shrine behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedek’.

May God fill your heart today with His gifts of faith, hope and love, and bless you this day.
