Some words from our New Testament reading today, from 2 Thessalonians: ‘Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph, as it did among you. … We have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things which we command. May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ’.

Today is also Remembrance Sunday, when we remember the souls of all those killed in war, especially those who died in World Wars I and II in the twentieth century.

May we, on this day, know ourselves wrapped in the love of God, and remain steadfast in that knowledge, as we wait for its fulfilment.
