This aperture in a bank in our garden is a mere twelve inches high, but looks as if it could be the entire height of a human person! We think the foxes may use it to take their rest …

Many of the saints spent time in caves, to give themselves entirely to prayer, as in the case of our own St Benedict in the holy cave at Subiaco, and St Antony, the father of monks, in his monastery by the Red Sea.

All of us need a ‘cave’, even if only in the heart, a place to withdraw and be alone with God. If you do not have such a space, we pray that you may find one in your busy life, and may God bless your endeavour, and all your efforts for Him, this day.
