From today’s Gospel reading, the story of the man with the withered hand: ‘And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored’. Notice our Lord’s anger on the man’s behalf, and his grief at the hardness of heart of the Pharisees. He ‘looked’ at them.
Let the gaze of our Lord fall on each of us today – may he not find hardness of heart, but a willing pliability for Him to work His will in us. May God bless you with the warmth of His Love, this day and always.
