Today, the Church puts before us the image of water. Here is part of our Old Testament reading: ‘“Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so, in the sight of the elders of Israel’.

And then, in the Gospel, Jesus’ meeting at the well with the Samaritan woman: ‘Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, “Give me a drink,” you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water’.

Let us hold out to Him our parched and empty souls, like chalices, for Him to fill up to the brim with Himself; that we may be filled, and in turn pour out that living water to others. May God bless you.
