At this time of year, it is a joy to be reading extracts from the Last Discourses of our Lord, at Mass. Here is a line from today’s: ‘I know whom I have chosen’. We can easily pass over these tremendous words, hidden as they are in the midst of other phrases including a prophecy of the betrayal by Judas, shortly to take place.

Each one of us is chosen by God, precious in His sight. It is so important, at this time of suffering, to hold on to those we love – and to remember that He holds on to us just as much, even more, in His great love.

May God bless you this day.
