Here is part of the account of the Ascension, from the book of Acts: ‘As they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”’
The Mother of Jesus, along with the Eleven disciples, is deep in prayer as the event unfolds. Our Lord Himself has an expression of profound love on His Face as He is drawn upward. Those disciples nearest to Him are shielding their faces with their hands from the intense brightness.
May we know deep in our hearts the joy of this day, and look forward in hope to our own entrance into eternal life, when the Lord so chooses. May God bless you.
