The icon shows the disciples at Pentecost, with the Mother of God seated in their midst in the Teacher’s Chair. The Holy Spirit is above, in an attitude that recalls the first creation in Genesis, when the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters.

In this new creation, all are deep in prayer. The face of the Mother of God is full of tenderness and warmth at this moment.

In all that lies upon us at this time, may we go deep into prayer, there to receive all that will take us through our trials, for God will not fail us, and the Holy Spirit is there to guide, to strengthen and to heal.
