Here is a text that follows on from that set for the Mass reading today, from the Letter to the Hebrews: ‘Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way which he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works …’

And, earlier in the same Letter: ‘He holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues for ever. Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them’.

Let us then draw near to Him, in ‘full assurance of faith’, knowing that in Him we find all that we need. He is faithful and will do all that He has promised. May God bless you this day.
