St John Eudes wrote: ‘Our wish, our object, our chief preoccupation must be to form Jesus in ourselves, to make his spirit, his devotion, his affections, his desires and his disposition live and reign there. All our religious exercises should be directed to this end. It is the work which God has given us to do unceasingly’. He followed St Paul, who wrote to the Galatians, ‘My little children, with whom I am in travail until Christ be formed in you!’

May we be unafraid to undertake this work, which is, after all, graced by the Holy Spirit. May we indeed be formed in the likeness of Christ, and reach our true human fulfilment in this way. May God bless you.
