Here is part of today’s Gospel reading, from St Luke: ‘He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Come and stand here.” And he rose and stood there. And Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful on the sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?” And he looked around on them all, and said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored’.

Many of us have areas of our lives which are ‘withered’ – roads not taken, opportunities missed, growth blocked by our own intransigence, perhaps … here in this Gospel we can see how we can bring these areas to Jesus, and ask for our healing and restoration. Our Lord wants us to become all of the person He created us to be. So, today, let us ask Jesus to come afresh into our lives (although He is already there!) to strengthen and renew us. May God bless you.
