Here are the last words of our New Testament reading today, from Philippians: ‘Therefore, my brethren, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved’.

These are words eminently suitable for a time of pandemic; when all seems chaos, we are exhorted to stand firm – not in our own strength, for we have none, but in the Lord.

So may God enable you to find your stability in him; as Isaiah said, ‘He will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge’. May He bless us all this day.
