From today’s Gospel reading: ‘My house shall be a house of prayer’. This verse refers back to the prophet Isaiah: ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples’. ‘My house’ can be a distinct place of worship, the Church, or indeed the individual soul. As St Paul wrote: ‘Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and that temple you are’.

In this way we can learn to reverence all God’s people, for God dwells within them as in a temple. May God bless you in this, and may your own sense of being a dwelling of God increase day by day.
