From today’s Old Testament reading, from the prophet Zephaniah: ‘For I will leave in the midst of you a people humble and lowly. They shall seek refuge in the name of the Lord, those who are left in Israel; they shall do no wrong and utter no lies, nor shall there be found in their mouth a deceitful tongue. For they shall pasture and lie down, and none shall make them afraid’.

In the midst of the pandemic, beyond the physical precautions we all have to take, there is a further step: to seek refuge in the name of the Lord. For it is His Name alone that will save us, in the fullest sense of the word ‘save’. He is it is who brings us peace, shalom, in the midst of the most unlikely circumstances. May we earnestly seek Him, and know His Peace in the depths of our hearts. May God bless you this day.
