‘O Root of Jesse, which standest as an ensign of the people, at whom kings shall shut their mouths, to whom the Gentiles shall seek: came and deliver us, and tarry not’.

This O Antiphon refers back to Isaiah 11:10: ‘In that day the root of Jesse shall stand as an ensign to the peoples; him shall the nations seek, and his dwellings shall be glorious’.

In these challenging times, may the nations indeed seek the Lord; as the Psalmist sand, ‘This is the generation of them that seek Him; of them that seek Thy Face …’
