From today’s Gospel, continuing the Bread of Life discourse in John: ‘“For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.” They said to him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst”’.

Here are some lines from St Thomas Aquinas’ hymn ‘Adoro Te Devote’: ‘Thee we adore, O hidden Saviour, thee, / who in thy sacrament dost deign to be; / both flesh and spirit in thy presence fail, / yet here thy presence we devoutly hail. / O blest memorial of our dying Lord, / who living bread to men doth here afford! / O may our souls for ever feed on thee, / and thou, O Christ, for ever precious be’.

May we know Him today in the Bread of Life, the Holy Eucharist; and may we ever be nourished by His presence, fulfilled at length in the Beatific Vision. May God bless you this day.
