Today’s Old Testament reading is the story of the binding of Isaac, from Genesis. Here is part of the account; ‘And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called the name of that place The Lord will provide; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”’

The final words of the extract, ‘On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided’, give us a valuable lesson and incentive to trust the Lord and His promises. It is so easy to say, ‘Oh yes’, and not trust at all. But it is really true – ‘The Lord will provide’.

May God give us the grace to trust His promises always, and may He bless you this day.
