Today is also the Optional Memoria of St John Eudes, the seventeenth century French priest who promoted devotion to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
He said: ‘Our wish, our object, our chief preoccupation must be to form Jesus in ourselves, to make His spirit, His devotion, His affections, His desires and His disposition live and reign there. All our religious exercises should be directed to this end. It is the work which God has given us to do unceasingly’. And how does this happen? Through prayer and the invisible grace of the Holy Spirit; through the humble service of one another in charity; and in complete obedience to the will of God.
May St John Eudes pray for us, and may God bless you this day.
