‘For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power’.

So wrote St Paul in 1 Corinthians. On this last Sunday of the Church’s year, we are reminded of the ultimate goal, to which all things are tending. But Christ is King over our own hearts also. There He reigns in truth and in love, if we allow Him to do so, and if we are willing to step aside from taking the centre place in our own lives. May we, in the grace and power of the Holy Spirit, be enabled to do this, and may God bless you richly in it.
