Today we remember also St Catherine of Alexandria, Virgin and Martyr, fourth century. Very little is known of her, but she is a canonised saint of the Undivided Church, which means we venerate her in common with our brothers and sisters in the Orthodox Church.

Her monastery is in Sinai, though the saint herself grew up in Alexandria. The monastery, built between 548 and 565, is one of the oldest functioning monasteries in the world, and is a World Heritage site. It possesses many rare manuscripts.

May St Catherine herself pray for us, that we may remain steadfast in our own faith, and may God bless you this day.
