‘Drop down, ye heavens from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness’. These words are in the hearts and voices of the Church as we begin the holy season. This gentle time of waiting for the Lord brings to mind the very short poem of St John of the Cross, about Our Lady at this time: ‘The Virgin, weighed / with the Word of God, / comes down the road: / if only you’ll shelter her’.

Let us travel the path of Advent with Our Lady, giving her ‘shelter’ as and when we are able. May she gather us up as she will soon gather her Child; and may He bless your Advent and make it a time of great blessing.
