The image shows the key to our tabernacle, set over the words from Isaiah, from which the Antiphon is taken: ‘I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David; he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open’.

There is a sense in which our deepest heart is a tabernacle for the Lord, for Him to dwell. The question must be asked, who holds the key to the tabernacle of our heart? Is it given to Christ alone? Or is it withheld even from Him, the One who has sole rights to be there by our baptism?

In these days, let us open the door of the tabernacle of our hearts to the One who most truly loves us, and give Him the key, to whom it truly belongs. May God bless you this day.
