Here is part of our New Testament reading for today, from the Letter of James: ‘As an example of suffering and patience, brethren, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we call those happy who were steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful’.
It has been said that patience is the ability to remain steadfast under the ordinary load of the ordinary day. St Mother Teresa of Calcutta said, ‘Without patience, we will learn less in life. We will see less. We will feel less. We will hear less. Ironically, rush and more usually mean less’.
May we have the grace, and the will, to make these words part of our lives, and may God bless your endeavours.
