Today is also the Optional Memoria of St Oswald. He was a Benedictine monk of Fleury, who became the Bishop of Worcester in the year 961. Along with Sts Dunstan and Ethelwold, he worked for the reform of monastic life alongside his diocesan responsibilities. In 972 he became Archbishop of York, while still remaining Bishop of Worcester and caring for both dioceses. It was in Worcester that he died, in the year 992.
May he pray for us here in the West Midlands, and may God bless you this day.
