From today’s Old Testament reading, from the First Book of Kings: ‘So Ahab sent to all the people of Israel, and gathered the prophets together at Mount Carmel. And Elijah came near to all the people, and said, “How long will you go limping with two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word’. The story continues in dramatic vein, with the Lord clearly demonstrating that He is God.
Today we need to hear the warning against ‘limping with two different opinions’ about God. Sometimes it is time to make a choice, and to make a choice for truth, among all the conflicting pressures of our era. ‘The Lord is God’.
May we make this choice, and stand faithfully by it all our lives, and may God bless you in it.
