St Bonaventure lived in the thirteenth century, and was an Italian Franciscan, later becoming General of the Franciscans and a Cardinal. Friend of St Thomas, he died on this day in 1274 whilst attending the Second Council of Lyons.

He said: ‘In all your deeds and words, you should look upon Jesus, as your model. Do so, whether you are walking, or keeping silence, or speaking, whether you are alone or with others’.

May St Bonaventure pray for us, and may we follow this wisdom of his, turning to our Lord at all times, and making Him the inspiration for all our words and deeds. May God bless you this day.
