St Mary Magdalen is known in the Orthodox Church as ‘Equal of the Apostles’. She is known to us as the one who, after her dramatic conversion, remained faithful to her Lord, standing by Him as He died on the Cross, and being the first witness of His resurrection. Tradition tells us that she went to Provence, in the south of France, and lived a life of prayer there as a hermit in a cave.

May she pray for us, and accompany us in our own journeys of prayer, that we may be faithful, as she was; and may God bless you this day.
