From today’s New Testament reading, from 1 Corinthians: ‘Christ, our paschal lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us, therefore, celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth’.
The death and resurrection of Christ does indeed mean new life for us, freely given as a grace. Our part of this new covenant relationship is to choose to live differently, in sincerity and truth. It does matter how we live – which is why the Rule of our Holy Father St Benedict is such a gift, in its very practical prescriptions of how we should live, in order to gain the eternal life which Christ has won for us.
May God bless you in all your efforts for Him, and fill you with His grace.
