St John was from Antioch, and became one of the greatest Fathers of the Church. After some years of priestly service in Syria, he came to Constantinople as its Archbishop. There, his honesty and truthfulness brought him into conflict with the imperial court. He was finally sent into exile and died in 407.
Here is a Kontakion for his Feast: ‘Having received divine grace from heaven, with your mouth you teach all men to worship the Triune God. All-blest and venerable John Chrysostom, we worthily praise you, for you are our teacher, revealing things divine!’
May he pray for us in our own stands for truth, and may God bless you this day.
