Today’s saints, both brothers and both doctors, lived in the third century. They are known as the ‘Unmercenaries’ for their refusal to accept payment for their services. They would tell the sick, ‘It is not by our own power that we treat you, but by the power of Christ, the true God. Believe in Him and be healed’.
Here is the Kontakion from their Liturgy: ‘Having received the grace of healing, you grant healing to those in need. Glorious wonder workers and physicians, Cosmas and Damian, visit us and put down the insolence of our enemies, and bring healing to the world through your miracles’.
May their prayers bring healing to our world, and may God bless you.
