Here is today’s Gospel reading: ‘As he said this, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts that you sucked!” But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”’

This is not a negation of our Blessed Mother; rather, it is an affirmation of all that she was, and is. To ‘hear the word of God and keep it’, ‘treasuring it in her heart’ as she did, should be the aim and goal of all of our lives. We may and do fail, but if we keep affirming the goal, and redirecting our energies, by the grace of God we shall arrive there.
