This feast reminds us of the calling of the first apostles by Jesus, to ‘be with Him and to be sent out’. That is still the calling of every Christian – to be with Him in prayer at all times, praying without ceasing, and being sent, carrying the love of Jesus in our hearts, to all to whom He may send us.
