From our Gospel reading for today, from St Luke: ‘As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging; and hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” And he cried, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”’
The cry of the blind beggar is one we can make our own, perhaps using it as a step into the prayer known as the ‘Jesus Prayer’: ‘Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me’. This prayer, said Bishop Kallistos Ware, is ‘never out of place’, and can be used at all times and in all places.
May Jesus Christ, Son of God, be with us in all the storms of life, and may God bless you this day.
