This early Christian martyr, who died probably in the early in the fourth century, is one of the saints commemorated in the Roman Canon of the Mass. One of the saints featured on the colonnade of St Peter’s Basilica, Rome, she is shown with the palm of martyrdom; and in the icon below, with a lamb. She was martyred at the tender age of twelve or thirteen for refusing to marry, saying that she was espoused to Christ.

May she pray for us, in her great gentleness, and may God bless you in your own relationship with Christ.
