Here is today’s Gospel reading, from St Mark: ‘The Pharisees came and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, to test him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.” And he left them, and getting into the boat again he departed to the other side’.
Jesus ‘sighed deeply in His spirit’ … it is clearly a significant moment, and reveals to us the depths of His love, and the pain that is caused Him when that love is rejected. We may like to spend time today reflecting on whether we also cause Jesus that pain, to cause Him to sigh deeply over us. Draw close to Him and feel that love … turn to Him. He is boundless mercy. May God bless you this day and always.
