Here is part of today’s Gospel, from St John: ‘He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth belongs to the earth, and of the earth he speaks; he who comes from heaven is above all. He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony; he who receives his testimony sets his seal to this, that God is true’.

What does ‘true’ mean? The Greek word, ‘alethes’, is made up of two parts: ‘a’, which is a negative, and ‘lethes’, meaning something that lies hidden. ‘True’ therefore has the sense of something not hidden or concealed; something revealed. Let us then be open to this ‘revealing’ of God in our hearts, and to where it will take us.

May God bless you this day.
