‘I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God’. These words of St Paul form part of our New Testament reading today. The word ‘counsel’ can also be translated as ‘purpose’, which describes perfectly the preaching of the great Apostle.

As he said in his Letter to the Romans: ‘O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counsellor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen’.

As we ponder on these words, let us reflect today on our relationship with God, and allow Him to be more and more at the centre of our lives. May God bless you.
